The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on the 19th the "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution". By the end of 2020, China will take the lead in banning and restricting the production, sales and use of some plastic products in some regions and areas, by the end of 2020, the consumption of disposable plastic products was significantly reduced, and alternative products were promoted.
The production, sale and use of some plastic products shall be prohibited and restricted
Prohibition on production and sales
l Production and sale of ultra-thin plastic shopping bags with a thickness of less than 0.025 mm and polyethylene agricultural mulch with a thickness of less than 0.01 mm are prohibited
l By the end of 2020, the production and sale of disposable foam plastic tableware and disposable plastic cotton buds are prohibited; the production of daily chemical products containing plastic beads is prohibited
l The manufacture of plastic products from medical waste is prohibited.
l Total ban on the import of waste plastics.

Non-degradable plastic bag
l By the end of 2020, shopping malls, supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores, etc. in key cities, as well as packaged food delivery services and various exhibition activities, will be the first to ban the use.
l By the end of 2022 and 2025, the scope of implementation will gradually expand
Disposable plastic tableware
l By the end of 2020, the use of non-degradable disposable plastic straws is prohibited in the catering industry nationwide; the use of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware is prohibited in the catering services of catering in related cities and scenic spots. Expand the scope of implementation by the end of 2022.
l By 2025, the consumption intensity of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware in the food and beverage delivery area of cities above the prefecture level will be reduced by 30%
Hotel, hotel disposable plastic supplies
l By the end of 2022, star-rated hotels, hotels and other places nationwide will no longer provide disposable plastic supplies.

l By the end of 2022, postal courier outlets in key areas will ban the use of non-degradable plastic packaging bags and disposable plastic woven bags to reduce the use of non-degradable plastic tape.

Promote the application of alternative products
In shopping malls, supermarkets, drug stores and bookstores and other places promote the use of non-plastic products such as environment-friendly cloth bags and paper bags and biodegradable shopping bags.Promote biodegradable packaging film （bag）for fresh products.
Promote biodegradable mulch film on a large scale in areas where agricultural mulch film is used in combination with agronomic measures.
Foster and optimize new business forms and models
E-commerce, takeaway and other platform enterprises should strengthen the management of settled merchants, designate a one time plastic product reduction alternative implementation plan, and release the implementation situation to the society.
Actively promote recyclable, foldable packaging products and logistics distribution equipment.
Encourage the use of integrated packaging of goods and logistics, establish a recycling system for recyclable logistics and distribution equipment.
Increase the supply of green products
Traditional plastic products: Carry out green design, improve recycling and reuse performance; No chemical additives harmful to human body or environment may be added illegally.
